Myagdi landslide kills two

MYAGDI, June 10: Two persons died after being buried in a landslide triggered by a flash flood at Raghuganga Rural Municipality-6, Kotgaun, here in the district on Tuesday night.

MYAGDI, June 10: Two persons died after being buried in a landslide triggered by a flash flood at Raghuganga Rural Municipality-6, Kotgaun, here in the district on Tuesday night.


The deceased have been identified as Hamaya Sherpurja, 50, and Simran Chhantyal, 4. They were buried in the landslide while they were sleeping inside their house, according to Ward Chairman Man Kumar Sherpurja. One man, however, survived the landslide after escaping from the incident site.

A team of police led by Assistant Inspector Dhak Bahadur Hamal from Pakhapati Police Station reached the scene immediately after the incident and carried out a rescue operation.


Food stuff, utensils and clothing items have been completely destroyed by the landslide. However, no damage has been caused to livestock.


The local government has declared an immediate relief package to the bereaved family members.
