Two Indian nationals arrested with IRs worth 800,000

KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Two Indian nationals have been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu with INR 800,000 on Thursday.


The arrested have been identified as 35-year-old Dharmendra Nagar and 42-year-old Pankaj Gupta, who were flying to New Delhi on a Vistara Air, according to a bulletin issued by the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, on Friday.

According to the police, a total of IRs 491,500 has been recovered from Dharmedra Nagar with 757 bundles of INR 500 notes and 230 bundles of IRs 200 notes and 670 bundles of IRs 100 notes. Similarly, IRs 308,500 have been recovered from Pankaj Gupta's possession in 617 bundles of IRs 500 notes.


According to the police, Indian rupees were recovered from them while checking the hand bag checking area for the international flight.


They have been handed over to the Department Revenue of Investigation at Pulchowk, Lalitpur for necessary investigations.
