Two killed, 41 others injured in Sindhupalchowk bus accident

SINDHUPALCHOWK, August 25: At least two people were killed and 41 others injured as a passenger bus met with an accident in Sukute-Thokarpa section of the road in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality on Wednesday morning.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, August 25: At least two people were killed and 41 others injured as a passenger bus met with an accident in Sukute-Thokarpa section of the road in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality on Wednesday morning.


Two persons, who were injured in the accident, breathed their last while undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital in Kavre, according to police. While one of the deceased persons has been identified as Rajan Baram, 45, of Thulodurlum, Lalitpur, the identity of another deceased, who is aged around 22 years, is yet to be ascertained.

According to DSP Dakshya Kumar Basnet at the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, the health condition of the six injured persons is critical. A total of 18 injured persons are currently receiving treatment at Sindhu Sadabahar Hospital in Khadichaur, while 22 others are receiving treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital. One other injured person is receiving treatment at the Thimi Hospital in Bhaktapur.


The ill-fated bus with the registration number Ba 3 Kha 8030 was on its way to Kathmandu from Bafal area in Sindhupalchowk district. The bus met with an accident at around 11:30 after it lost control in a sharp bend. The driver of the bus Dipendra Pathak, 35, has said that the accident occurred as the brakes of the bus did not function.
