Two more arrested in connection with 100 kg gold smuggling case

KATHMANDU, July 20: Police have arrested two more people in connection with the 100 kg gold smuggling case. A team of the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has arrested two more people.

KATHMANDU, July 20: Police have arrested two more people in connection with the 100 kg gold smuggling case. A team of the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has arrested two more people.


The arrested are Pushkar Bhatt, owner of Trans Global Services Pvt Ltd and Rajan Shrestha, owner of Alice Trans Group. The team of DRI arrested them along with the gold placed in brake shoes of motorcycles and scooters sent by the cargo company run by them this morning. With these two people, the number of people arrested in the gold smuggling case has reached nine.

It has been revealed that the gold was smuggled by concealing it in brake shoes from the Cathay Pacific Cargo from Hong Kong on Tuesday. After the gold hidden in the brake shoes was cleared by officials at the customs office of the Tribhuvan International Airport, the team of DRI took the taxi in which it was being transported under control and made the arrests.
