This festival marks a tradition of worshiping nature before planting crops to ensure a good harvest. As part of the celebration, the Chandi dance is performed, and among different sects of the Kirant community, the Sakela dance is also a significant feature.
In Kathmandu, the Kiran Rai Yayokkha is hosting a special event at Sakelasthan in Hattiban, Lalitpur, which includes prayers and worship rituals.
