UDMF-called bandh partially affects life in Tarai

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has called a one-day bandh protesting against the government’s decision to go for local elections without amending the constitution.

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has called a one-day bandh protesting against the government’s decision to go for local elections without amending the constitution.


The banda called by UDMF has affected the life in some parts of the Tarai region.


According to district reporters, the bandh has affected the daily life of people in Rajbiraj, Birgunj, Lahan and Janakpur.

Irate UDMF cadres have also vandalized the office of Rajbiraj Municipality. The window panes of the office have been smashed.


Vehicles plying along  short and long routes in the region have stayed off the road while the educational institutes, factories and markets remained closed.


Two UDMF cadres sustained injuries in a clash with the CPN-UML cadres that erupted after the former pelted stones at the house of UML leader Raghubir Mahaseth.
