BIRATNAGAR, Jan 25: CPN-UML's candidate Rukmini Koirala has been elected as a member of the National Assembly, defeating the ruling coalition's candidate in Koshi.

BIRATNAGAR, Jan 25: CPN-UML's candidate Rukmini Koirala has been elected as a member of the National Assembly, defeating the ruling coalition's candidate in Koshi.


She defeated the candidate of the Maoist Center Champa Devi Karki by about 100 votes.

Koirala, who secured the support of UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), got 5,086 votes, while Champadevi Karki, who got the support of Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) got 4,992 votes.
