KATHMANDU, Jan 29: An official announcement has been made regarding the film 'Nametine Ghau', which is based on the stories of acid attack victims. Director and producer Ramit Dhungana shared information about the film at a press conference held on Sunday.
CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli attended the press meet as the chief guest. It was also announced that Oli will play a cameo role as the Prime Minister in the film.

In Asoj 2077 BS, Oli's Cabinet passed a proposal to amend certain laws related to criminal offenses and procedures to punish acid attack perpetrators. The film's storyline includes this context, hence Oli's role as the Prime Minister was confirmed at the press conference.
During the event, Oli emphasized that acid attack perpetrators should be prosecuted according to the law. At the film's inauguration, Oli said "action," RPP MP Gyanendra Shahi clapped, Ramesh Upreti yelled "cut," and actor Dhiren Shakya performed. Actor Bikrant Basnet broke a coconut to mark the commencement of the movie's shooting.
Dhungana, also the director, will appear in a cameo role in the film. Several acid attack victims attended the press conference, advocating stringent legal penalties against the attackers.
UML Chairman Oli expressed hope that the film will send a powerful message to prevent acid attacks. Actors Surbir Pandit, Ram Chandra Adhikari, Rachna Gautam, Simran Khadka, and Supragya Sharma will also feature in the film. The shooting of the movie is set to start on February 8, at locations including Pokhara, Birgunj, Rautahat's Chandrapur, Bhaktapur, Banepa, Nawalpur, and Panauti – areas where acid attacks have occurred.
