UML council meeting to continue today

KATHMANDU, April 21: The meeting of the National Convention Representatives Council of CPN-UML will continue today with various reports scheduled to be presented.

KATHMANDU, April 21: The meeting of the National Convention Representatives Council of CPN-UML will continue today with various reports scheduled to be presented. 


The meeting, which started from Saturday at Godavari in Lalitpur, will see the participation of 2,454 individuals including members of the central committee, members of the central office, organizers and council members.


In today’s meeting, reports will be presented on behalf of the Central Disciplinary Commission, Central Accounts Commission, Central Election Commission and Central Advisory Council.

In the meeting, a detailed action plan will be presented for the year 2081 BS, focusing on the party's strengthening. Participants will give suggestions on the presented report and action plan.


The council meeting is said to guide the development of UML as a strong and decisive national power to ensure political stability, lasting peace, good governance and prosperity according to the needs of the country and the people's wishes.


In the first meeting of the National Convention Representatives Council held at Sunrise Hall in Godawari of Latilpur, chairperson KP Sharma Oli's political and general secretary Shankar Pokharel's organizational report have raised the issue of democratizing the party's life as well as making UML a decisive national force through upcoming elections to reach socialism by fulfilling the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'. 


The UML has laid policy priorities to make the incumbent government sustainable, result-oriented and successful, enhance economic dynamics, dispense justice to cooperatives' victims, maintain good governance through effective public services and remove complexities in the implementation of federalism.


UML has set 13 policy priorities, including taking action against those involved in corruption and unscrupulous activities, ensuring accountability in the country, industrialization of agriculture and domestic production as well as transport, communication and infrastructure development, increasing electricity generation and consumption. 


Likewise, UML laid emphasis on expanding technical education and maintaining gender equality, fulfilling the remaining tasks of the peace process and strengthening foreign relations on the basis of national independence.
