KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Secretary of the main opposition party CPN-UML, Padma Aryal has said that the CPN-UML is not involved in any agreement related to the Minimum Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact agreement.

UML does not need to talk about MCC, Aryal said. She also accused that attempts are being made to drag UML into unnecessary controversy over the MCC. She said that UML has cleared its position regarding MCC.

"Once our demands are met, we are ready to debate over the issue of MCC," she said. She also warned not to make unnecessary ruckus regarding MCC, which is registered in parliament. Although she did not elaborate on whether the party would or would not support the project in parliament, Secretary Aryal reiterated her readiness to have a debate on the matter.

Speaking at a press meet organized by Press Chautari Nepal, Myagdi on Wednesday, Aryal said that parliament was obstructed due to the improper act of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota. Though the party took action against the then CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and other members of parliament and informed parliament, it was politicized and no action was taken against them.

She said that the party would participate in the House of Representatives meeting on the same day when the notice expelling thos 14 lawmakers is issued.
