UML’s Basnet wins in Sunsari-1 (A)

DHARAN, Nov 25: CPN-UML candidate Ramesh Kumar Basnet has been elected from Sunsari-1 Province Assembly (A).

DHARAN, Nov 25: CPN-UML candidate Ramesh Kumar Basnet has been elected from Sunsari-1 Province Assembly (A).


He defeated Umesh Thapa of the Nepali Congress, his nearest rival, by a margin of 1350 votes. Basnet got 11,102 votes while Thapa got 9,752 votes.

According to the election officer's office constituency No. 1, a total of 39,726 votes were cast for the Province Assembly (A). Election Officer Rudra Prasad Aryal said that out of the total votes cast, 37,942 votes were valid and 1794 votes were invalid.


According to the office, RPP candidate Uddhav Shrestha got 8,363 votes while independent candidate Samir Tamang got 4,463 votes.
