UML sets September 7 deadline for recommendation of candidates

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The CPN-UML has directed its subordinate committees to recommend the names of candidates for the elections to the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies scheduled for November 20 within September 7 .

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The CPN-UML has directed its subordinate committees to recommend the names of candidates for the elections to the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies scheduled for November 20 within September 7 .


The intraparty directives-5 issued by party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli on August 31 to the decisions of the fourth central committee meeting held on August 26 and 27 has determined September 7 as the deadline for the recommendation of candidates.

As per the criteria set for recommending party candidates, people who are committed to the party's policies and programs, are popular and capable of securing victory, have contribution to the party's movements and meet the inclusive and qualification criteria as per the election laws should be recommended. 


The district and province committees should recommend the names of the candidates to the center with the recommendation of the party's constituency committee. 


The names of candidates should be recommended toward the proportional representation electoral system on the basis of inclusiveness and the names of three candidates including a woman should be recommended from the central level of the party's people's organization.
