UML wins in Indra Sarovar and Bhimphedi of Makawanpur

MAKWANPUR, May 16: The final vote count results of two out of 10 local units in Makawanpur district have been published. 


According to the vote count results, CPN-UML's candidates Devkrishna Pudasaini and Umakumari Lama have been elected to the posts of chair and vice-chair of Indra Sarovar Rural Municipality, respectively. Likewise, UML won the chairperson and NC won vice-chairperson of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality in Makawanpur district.

Winners Pudasaini and Lama secured 3,722 and 3,725 votes respectively while Pudasaini's close-contender Biswo Lama got 3,472. 


However, Nepali Congress has won three out of five wards in the rural municipality. UML has emerged victorious in two wards. 


Likewise, UML's Hidam Lama won the post of chairperson of Bhimphedi, securing 5,591 votes. His arch-rival Badri Bahadur Syangtan of CPN (Maoist Center) received 5,209 votes. 


Similarly, Nepali Congress candidate Sanjeeb Shrestha emerged victorious as vice-chairperson by a narrow margin of 16 votes. His close contender Parbati Rana of UML lost the election to Shrestha. Rana was the ex-vice-chairperson of the rural municipality.
