KATHMANDU, July 21: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has issued a whip to its lawmakers to vote against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, according to party leader Metmani Chaudhary.
Newly appointed PM Oli is scheduled to take a vote of confidence today.
RSP issues whip to lawmakers not to give trust vote to PM Oli
The Constitution of Nepal mandates that a Prime Minister appointed with the support of two or more political parties must seek a vote of confidence within 30 days of their appointment.
Of the 275 members in the House of Representatives (HoR), PM Oli must garner the support of at least 138 members to win his confidence vote.With the Nepali Congress, UML, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), and Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) joining the government, PM Oli is certain to secure the vote of confidence.
PM Oli currently has the support of 177 lawmakers, including 88 from the Nepali Congress, 78 from the UML, seven from the JSP, and four from the LSP.
Additionally, three other parties that have not joined the government yet have announced their support to PM Oli. These parties are the Janamat Party with six lawmakers, JSP Nepal with five, and the Nagarik Unmukti Party with four lawmakers.
