UPF Nepal organizes conference on peaceful reunification of Korean Peninsula

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: The Universal Peace Federation, (UPF) Nepal, an international and inter religious network of individuals and organizations, organized a daylong conference on Monday in the presence of distinguished dignitaries in Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, Naxal, on "Peaceful Reunification of Korean Peninsula and world peace: Challenges and Opportunities."

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: The Universal Peace Federation, (UPF) Nepal, an international and inter religious network of individuals and organizations, organized a daylong conference on Monday in the presence of distinguished dignitaries in Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, Naxal, on "Peaceful Reunification of Korean Peninsula and world peace: Challenges and Opportunities."


Chief guest of the program, former vice-president of Nepal, Parmanand Jha, while delivering his speech, expressed his sincere gratitude for providing such a blissful time to be a part of this conference and wished to see the unified Korea in the days ahead. He praised the efforts of Father and Mother Moon to unify the peninsula.

The program's chairperson Ek Nath Dhakal, a former minister of Nepal, and chairman, UPF/IAPP, Asia Pacific, highlighted the importance of reunification of Korean Peninsula for the establishment of peace throughout the world. He further highlighted the Thinktank 2022 project and on fostering partnership to create a better society to establish a new era of hope. In the program, Santosh Kumar Poudel, director, UPF, South Asia, presented a brief overview of UPF activities throughout the world.


Speaking at the program, former Nepali ambassador to France, Mohan Krishna Shrestha, opined that it’s an awaited issue to see a unified Korean Peninsula. He also expressed his optimism that with the effort of peace-minded stakeholders of UPF, there is always a hope of peaceful reunification.


Another speaker Shankar Prasad Sharma, former ambassador of Nepal to the USA, talked about the economic benefits that would bring good prospects not only to the Koreans but globally if both Korean nations unite, supporting the global economy and peace.
