Upper House Chair Timilsina meets British Labour Party MP

KATHMANDU, March 20: Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and British Labour Party MP Birendra Sharma had a courtesy meeting on Monday at the Singha Durbar.


On that occasion, Chairman Timilsina praised the British support for the development of Nepal. He said that the official invitation to visit Nepal has been sent to the Speaker of the British Parliament.

He also said that he wanted to welcome the Speaker of the British Parliament as the chief guest in the official program to be organized on the occasion of 100 years of peace and friendship between Nepal and Britain. During the meeting, MP Sharma said that there will be a high-level visit from the UK soon.


Also, Chairman of the National Assembly Timilsina requested British MP Sharma to take the initiative to lift the flight ban of Nepal Airlines in the European skies including the UK and arrange direct flights between Nepal and Great Britain. He asked the British government to support the British Gurkha Army, tourism promotion, invest in infrastructure, skill development, arrangement of scholarships for Nepali students, etc. On that occasion, they also discussed the exchange of parliamentary practices between the parliamentarians of the two countries.
