Upper house MPs raise road potholes, ditches issue

KATHMANDU, March 22: Lawmakers speaking in the 'zero hour' of the meeting of National Assembly today called attention of the government towards the poor condition of roads in several places of the country.

KATHMANDU, March 22: Lawmakers speaking in the 'zero hour' of the meeting of National Assembly today called attention of the government towards the poor condition of roads in several places of the country. 


Referring to the ditches and potholes on the roads in the capital as well as in other places of the country, they demanded that the government should address this problem with urgency as it is leading to dust pollution and making travel unsafe. 


Dhana Kumari Khatiwada wanted to know from the government as to when the problem of dusty roads in Kathmandu come to an end.

Chnda Chapain drew the government's attention to the problems related to hospital, electricity supply and lack of drinking water in Surkhet district. 


Lawmaker Prakash Pantha said the Prithvi highway in Pokhara has become very old and worn out, and because of this the number of accidents was on the rise. He urged the government to solve the problem at the earliest. 


Balaram Prasad Banskota called attention of the government to the outbreak of bird flu, its transmission and the problems facing the poultry farmers due to this. 


Mukta Kumari Yadav demanded that the government take initiatives for repair and replacement of the old and worn out bridges in Dhanusha and Siraha districts. 


Yutrol Tamang called for prompt implementation of the various bills that have been amended by parliament rather than dump thesein the racks onside the Singha Durbar (the central government secretariat).
