It is unknown at this time about the topic of discussion. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made preparations for his visit and high-level meetings. He arrived in the Maldives on Monday.

The visit of a high-ranking US official to Nepal is being viewed with importance at a time when the US assistance project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is being delayed in Parliament for approval. The United States has expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in approving the MCC. Earlier, MCC Vice President Fatima Sumar had visited Nepal and urged the leaders for the implementation of MCC.

Even when Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was in Glasgow, Scotland to attend a climate conference, a high-ranking MCC official met Deuba and expressed interest in implementing the MCC. The project has not been able to move through parliament as some parties and leaders are in favor of not moving the project forward.
