KATHMANDU, June 11: Charles A Flynn, Commanding General of United States Army Pacific Command, paid courtesy calls on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday.
During the meetings held at the official residences of the President and the Prime Minister, the two sides discussed the diplomatic relations between the two countries, humanitarian assistance and disaster management and Nepal's contribution to the UN peacekeeping mission. According to Chief Personal Secretary to the President, Bhesh Raj Adhikari, issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.

General Flynn of the USA arrived in Nepal on Thursday for a four-day visit on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Similarly, General Flynn also visited the Nepal Army (NA) headquarters in Bhadrakali on Friday. During the visit, the NA honored him and informed him about the operational activities of the NA. Then, he had a meeting with Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma in his office and discussed bilateral interests and mutual relations.
Likewise, General Flynn will observe Mt Everest via a mountain flight on Saturday. NA has said that he is scheduled to visit the Army Command and Staff College Shivpuri on Sunday along with visiting the Peace Work Training Center at Panchkhal.
