GALESHWOR, August 5: The Beni-Jomsom road section along the Kaligandaki Corridor which remained closed for three days has come to operation from Thursday evening.
With the resumption of vehicular movement, the vehicles stranded for the past three days have left to their respective destinations, according to Supervisor of Beni-Jomsom Road section Indra Singh Sherchan.
Landslide obstructs Beni-Jomsom road section
The road section was obstructed from Monday due to a landslide triggered by monsoon rainfall at Kavrebhir. The road near Ghopteodhar of the same site along the borderland of Myagdi and Mustang districts had collapsed, leaving vehicular movement further obstructed.
The maintenance of 50 meters of road was completed on Wednesday and Thursday with the mobilization of construction equipment and human resources, Sherchan added. The Myagdi section of the highway is at high risk of frequent disruptions during the monsoon season.
