Veteran singer Prem Dhoj Pradhan passes away

Veteran Singer/Composer Prem Dhoj Pradhan has passed away. He died at the Kathmandu Neuro and General Hospital in Sundhara on Thursday. He was in his 80’s.

Veteran Singer/Composer Prem Dhoj Pradhan has passed away. He died at the Kathmandu Neuro and General Hospital in Sundhara on Thursday. He was in his 80’s.

Pradhan was born in 1938 in Chautara, Sindhupalchowk. He was also known as the 'Golden Voice' in the Nepali music industry. In 1965, Pradhan sang with Bollywood singer Usha Mangeshkar in the Nepali film 'Maitighar'.


He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago due to chest problems, according to former president of Musicians’ Association, Laxman Shesh.


He sang more than 700 songs in Nepali and Nepalbhasa in his over six-decade career. Among them ‘Goreto Tyo Gaun ko’, ‘Maya Na Mara Mayalu’, ‘Namana Laaj Yastari’, ‘Para Laijau Phool Haru’ and many more in Nepali are popular; Likewise,  Rajamati Kumati,  Bala Bala Chingu Mikha, Wa Chhu Gali Tho Chu Gali are his most popular songs in Nepalbhasa.
