According to Ramesh Kumar KC, director general at DoI, PCR testing of 88 people including 56 staffers, 20 police personnel and other people on the DoI premises was conducted. “One staffer has tested positive so we are closing the visa services,” he said, adding that people can still seek services in case of emergency. The DoI issuing a statement has said service seekers can directly contact immigration officers in case of emergency.

The DoI has stopped its services as the contact tracing and testing of those who had come into contact with the infected staffer is ongoing. “The health ministry has directed that the PCR test results of those who came in contact with that person will be out in three days,” he told Republica, “After the result is out, we might resume our services from the next week.”
