Voting for  presidential election ends, vote counting to start from 4 pm

KATHMANDU, March 9: The voting process for the presidential election has concluded, and now arrangements are underway for the tallying of votes. The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the vote counting will commence at 4 pm.

KATHMANDU, March 9: The voting process for the presidential election has concluded, and now arrangements are underway for the tallying of votes. The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the vote counting will commence at 4 pm.


According to the EC, if any ballot paper is not stamped with the swastika and if it is found that the vote sign is used in the room where the name of the candidate is written, then such ballot paper will be invalid.

Parliamentarians of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Nepal Workers and Peasant Party did not vote in today's election.


In the counting of votes, each of the presidential candidates will have a counting representative. It has been decided to represent Ramesh Ukhtar on behalf of Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Ram Chandra Poudel and  Mahesh Bertula on behalf of  UML candidate Subas Nemwang.


Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel and CPN (UML) vice chairman Subas Nemwang are competing for the presidency on behalf of the eight-party alliance.
