Vote counting concludes under PR system

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Vote counting for Proportional Representation electoral system under Federal Parliament and Provincial Assemblies concluded on Sunday.


CPN (UML) secured highest votes (3,173,494) under PR system and 80 seats in First-Past-The-Post (FTPT) for the federal parliament. The party has already won 80 parliamentary and 148 provincial assembly seats.

The Maoist Center received 1,303,721 votes under PR system and 36 seats under FPTP system while Nepali Congress received 3,128,389 votes in PR system and 23 seats in FPTP for federal parliament.


Bibeksheel Sajha Party, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Democratic, Naya Shakti Party, Rastriya Janamorcha were unable to secure the three percent threshold. 


RPP and NSPN, who have each won a seat through the FPTP electoral system, will admit their representatives to the Parliament as independent members.
