KATHMANDU, May 6: Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has called on the public to vote for UML candidates in the upcoming local level election in order to bring an end to corruption in the country.
Addressing an election rally in Dhangadhi on Thursday, Chairman Oli urged all voters to vote for the UML candidates to help eradicate corruption and take the country forward in the path of development.

Stating that the UML-led government, which was working for the development of the nation and the people, was removed in an unconstitutional and conspiratorial manner, Oli said that the UML government would be formed through a fresh mandate of the people after the general election.
Although Nepali Congress (NC) had led the government for 17 years and has been in the government for 27 years, he claimed that the UML has done more development work than the NC in the last three years. While referring to the remark made by PM Sher Bahadur Deuba that he had stressed on the need to form a electoral coordination as the NC cannot contest against the UML in the upcoming elections at Biratnagar alone, Oli said, “They cannot stand against UML alone. Their coalition will not work as well.”
Oli argued that the ruling coalition will break after the election results are out. “The coalition will blame each other for losing and start to break,” Oli said.
Also addressing another program at Bardagoria Rural Municipality in Kailali district on Thursday, Oli said that he would take responsibility for eradicating corruption if the UML candidates are victorious. Stating that NC’s election manifesto mentioned Deuba’s name in 8 places, while the name of UML Chairman Oli was pointed out in 42 places, Chairman Oli said, "There is no commitment in the NC manifesto. The NC has written the name of the UML chairman more than 40 times as a complaint due to fear of losing in the election.”
