Voting underway despite bomb explosion outside Shirise polling station in Ilam

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: A bomb was detonated near the Shirise Mavi polling station in Soyang, Maijogmai Rural Municipality-5 in Ilam district. Police said the explosion did not affect the voting process.

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: A bomb was detonated near the Shirise Mavi polling station in Soyang, Maijogmai Rural Municipality-5 in Ilam district. Police said the explosion did not affect the voting process.


A loud explosion was heard outside the polling station when voting was underway inside the polling station. An eyewitness, who is on election duty, informed that the explosion did not cause any damage.

Police said the voting process is continuing despite the explosion outside the polling station. Chief of Ilam District Police Office SP Dilip Ghimire said that voting is currently underway in a peaceful manner.


The explosion took place at around  9 AM. Police have recovered a broken mobile phone along with other items from the incident site.
