Water starts to freeze due to sharp decline in temperature

KATHMANDU, Dec 21: In the area of Northern Namkha Rural Municipality including Simkot, the headquarters of Humla, water has started to freeze due to the sharp decrease in temperature. Although there has been no snowfall this year, as the temperature has started to decrease in Humla, the water in the tap has started freezing.

KATHMANDU, Dec 21: In the area of Northern Namkha Rural Municipality including Simkot, the headquarters of Humla, water has started to freeze due to the sharp decrease in temperature. Although there has been no snowfall this year, as the temperature has started to decrease in Humla, the water in the tap has started freezing.


As it is very cold during the night, water taps  have started freezing in the morning. In Simkot, the temperature declines to minus at night and in the morning. Maya Lama, a resident of Simkot, said that even the water stored in buckets and other vessels has started freezing and turning into ice. The frozen water only melts when the sun shines in the afternoon.

As the cold increases, the security personnel at the Hilsa police station have already returned to the headquarters, while only the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel remain there, guarding the border. With the onset of December, the police stations located in Hilsa, Limi, and other higher areas move toward the district headquarters.
