“We are ashamed for not learning lessons from Rani Pokhari”

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: Activists have staged a symbolic protest against the construction of concrete structures around the Kamal Pokhari pond in Kathmandu on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: Activists have staged a symbolic protest against the construction of concrete structures around the Kamal Pokhari pond in Kathmandu on Friday. 


The cultural activists smeared the mud of the pond on their faces, urging the authorities to preserve the ancestral pond and reconstruct it in its original style.

They gathered on the premises of the pond and expressed their differences against the authorities’ decision to renovate the historical pond using concrete. They held placards reading “We are ashamed for not learning lessons from Rani Pokhari”, “Let’s save soil and water”and “We don’t need Kamal made of cement and rod” among others.
