SURKHET, Jan 9: Karnali Chief Minister of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has said that employment will be provided to people who have returned from India. He said that the provincial government was ready to create an environment to use the skills learned in India at home.

"We are formulating an action plan to provide employment in our own province to people from Karnali who work hard and earn low wages in Kalapahad (India)," said Chief Minister Shahi during a meeting with the Nepali Public Relations Committee (NPRC) delegation from India on Friday. “We will give priority to citizens returning from India in the programs.”

Chief Minister Shahi said that many Nepalis working in India have lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and most of them are from Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. He said that he would coordinate with the local level to collect data of the returnees from Kalapahad and get information about their skills. "On the basis of that, the provincial government will run an employment program," he said.

Informing that the third wave of COVID-19 is about to start, Chief Minister Shahi said that citizens of Karnali would not have to suffer from the roadblocks like in the past. He said that the provincial government has made necessary preparations for the citizens coming from India for a safe journey from the border to their homes. Chairman of NPRC India Bal Krishna Pandey had submitted a nine-point demand letter to the Chief Minister.
