Impacted by low pressure belt created along India’s Madhya Pradesh, the  rainfall  is expected to decrease by Saturday night  


 KATHMANDU, Sept 24: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast light to heavy rainfall in most parts of the country until Saturday this week.


According to a regular weather bulletin published by the division on Thursday morning, the precipitation is impacted by a low pressure belt created in the eastern part of Indian state of Madhya Pradesh which is gradually shifting to the north-eastern region.

The division said that places in Province 1, Province 2, Bagmati, Gandaki, Province 5 and a few places of Karnali Province have been witnessing heavy rainfall for the last three days.  Heavy rain with thunder and lightning is forecast in those places even on Thursday afternoon and night while almost all places across the country are to receive light to heavy rainfall.


The amount of rainfall is predicted to lower on Friday as only a few places of Province 1, Province 2 and Bagmati Province may witness heavy rainfall. Light to moderate rain, however, will occur in most places throughout the country.


With a partial change in the weather, some places across the country are expected to receive light to moderate rain while a few places of Province 1 and 2 are to witness heavy precipitation with thunder and lightning on Saturday afternoon. The weather is expected to turn fairer during the night with light to moderate rainfall.


The division also warned the locals especially along the river banks in Province 1, Bagmati, Gandaki, Province 5 and a few places in Karnali Province to stay on alert owing to the rise in water levels in the rivers and risk of landslides due to the incessant rainfall.


The rainfall happening across the country with the monsoon season coming to an end, incidents of landslides have been reported from various districts including Palpa, Syangja and Lalitpur.
