KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and the Filipino community in Nepal jointly organized a vibrant event on Saturday to celebrate the upcoming Teej festival.
In attendance at the function were former first lady Radhika Shakya, President of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN) Shova Gyawali, and Miss Universe Nepal 2023, Jane Dipika Garrett.

Addressing the event organized in the capital, Shakya emphasized the significance of the Teej festival, underlining its representation of Nepal's distinctive cultural heritage. She stressed the importance of focusing on the positive aspects of cultural celebrations while avoiding negative aspects associated with them.
Teej is a unique festival celebrated annually by women. Among other things, the festival is linked with women empowerment and independence.
FWEAN President Gyawali expressed that Nepal's rich cultural traditions like Teej play a vital role in showcasing the country on the global stage. She advocated for the continued celebration of events like Teej and emphasized the need to economically empower women. Gyawali further stated, "Promoting women's leadership is equally important. This necessitates collective support from all of us."
