With 634 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, Nepal's COVID-19 tally reaches 31,117

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 634 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking Nepal's coronavirus tally to 31,117.

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 634 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking Nepal's coronavirus tally to 31,117.


At a regular media briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the MoHP said that 634 new cases of COVID-19 were detected while carrying out 12,519 PCR tests in the past 24 hours in various laboratories across the country.


216 COVID-19 cases were detected inside the Kathmandu Valley alone, he said.

Gautam said that 136 persons who earlier had tested positive for virus were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. "With this, the number of people to be discharged after recovery has reached 18, 350," the spokesperson said.


There are currently 12,621 active cases of coronavirus in various parts of the country, according to Gautam.


Spokesperson Gautam said that nine persons succumbed to novel coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours, taking the country's COVID-19 death toll to 146.
