Woman missing as a tiger runs her down from a motorcycle

BARDIYA, Jan 2: A woman who was pillion-riding a motorcycle was attacked by a tiger in the Bardiya National Park-section of East-west Highway on Friday night.

BARDIYA, Jan 2: A woman who was pillion-riding a motorcycle was attacked by a tiger in the Bardiya National Park-section of East-west Highway on Friday night.


According to the Bardiya National Park, the woman is missing and her son – who was driving the motorbike – has sustained serious injuries.


The missing woman has been identified as Nanda Kala Thapa, 50, from Lamkichuwa Municipality.

Bishnu Shrestha, Chief Conservation Officer at Bardiya National Park, said that a team of Nepal Army has been deployed to the incident site for a search mission.


Earlier, two people – a man and a woman – were killed in tiger attacks in the same national park.


People living near the forests of Nepal-India border points have been suffering from tiger attacks time and again.


According to the National Park officials, the park is doing it’s best to identify the ‘killer’ tiger and bring it under control.


In an immediate action, the National Park has prohibited people from travelling on motorcycles in the region.
