KATHMANDU, July 23: Nepal will face India today in a crucial match of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup Cricket.
In their final group stage encounter, Nepal will challenge the formidable Indian team.
Nepal started their campaign with a victory over the UAE by 6 wickets but encountered a setback with a 9-wicket loss to Pakistan in their second match.
Nepal takes on Sri Lanka today
India leads Group A with four points and is determined to maintain their winning streak.
Nepal is under pressure to secure a win against India to advance to the next stage. Currently, Nepal and Pakistan are tied with two points each, based on run rate, occupying second and third positions respectively with one win and one loss. The UAE has yet to score any points in the group.
The match between Nepal and India will be held at the Dambulla ground in Sri Lanka on Tuesday at 7:15 PM local time.
The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups. Nepal is in Group A along with the UAE, India, and Pakistan, including other test-playing nations. Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Malaysia, with Sri Lanka and Thailand currently leading with two points each, while Bangladesh and Malaysia are yet to score.
Nepal achieved a historic victory by defeating Sri Lanka in their opening match. However, they lost to Pakistan in their second game, with Pakistan chasing down a target of 109 runs in just 11.5 overs.
Nepal aims to bounce back with a strong performance against India to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup Cricket tournament. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the final scheduled for July 28.
