Women’s rights activist and feminist icon Kamla Bhasin passes away

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Popular women's rights activist, poet and author Kamla Bhasin passed away on September 25 due to cancer. She was 75.

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Popular women's rights activist, poet and author Kamla Bhasin passed away on September 25 due to cancer. She was 75.


She was a prominent voice in the women's movement in India and other South Asian countries. She is best known for her work with Sangat, a feminist network and for her poem Kyunki main ladki hoon, mujhe padhna hai.

According to Activist Kavita Srivastava on her Twitter handle, Bhasin breathed her last around 3AM on Saturday. She was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago.
