BAJURA, Feb 20: Many women in rural parts of Bajura district, who were suffering from uterine prolapse for long, have benefited from a free health camp set up here since last Friday.
Among other districts in the Far-Western, this district records higher number of women suffering from the condition when pelvic floor muscles and ligaments are weak and thereby cannot provide adequate support for the uterus, shared Camp Coordinator Ram Bahadur Malla. The camp set up by Far-Western Regional Health Directory and District Public Health Office in technical assistance of Nepalgunj Medical College have offered diagnosis of gynecological disorders and surgery, informed Coordinator Malla.

Those service seekers coming to the camp from remote parts of the district get Rs 1,000 as transport allowance and Rs 500 as tiffin allowance, said Malla.
One among service seekers was Jayananda Upadhyay of Badimalika Municipality-9 in the district. The 60-year-old woman had been suffering from uterine prolapse for 21 years. The mother of three was unable to avail treatment due to financial constraints.
Thanks to the free camp, she found respite and cure for her condition after living with it for more than two decades. Durga Bohora of Kolti-9 in the district also shares similar story as Upadhyay. The 70-year-old has not only been suffering from uterine prolapsed for some five years but also battling with financial problems.
"When I heard of free heath camp set up in our own locality, I came to seek treatment," said the elderly women who confided that she had not prioritized the ailment's treatment at personal expenses at the ebb of her life. Similarly, 46-year-old Chaiti Joshi of Jukot-8 in the district was also among the beneficiaries who got her uterine prolapsed cured after living with it for a decade. RSS
As many as eight women like Upadhyay, Bohora and Joshi, who had not been able to avail gynecological services due to lack of health facilities in their locality.
