World Bank to provide assistance of Rs 5.87 billion to Nepal

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The World Bank has decided to provide Rs 5.87 billion for the development of the education sector and to strengthen the health sector in Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The World Bank has decided to provide Rs 5.87 billion for the development of the education sector and to strengthen the health sector in Nepal. 


Two different agreements were signed between Madhu Kumar Marasini, Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Faris Hadad Zervos, National Director for the bank on Wednesday. Speaking at the program, Marasini stressed the need to reconstruct the education and health sectors that are seriously affected by COVID-19.

Similarly, Zervos said that the agreement is expected to accelerate the human capital by making Nepal’s health and education systems inclusive and productive. “The assistance will be provided to ensure the access of the health sector and quality learning to all. 


It is believed that the assistance will help improve public procurement, financial management, information management and citizen engagement.
