World’s Best Granny

While reading stories and watching movies, I found that no matter what country you are from your grand mothers are the ones who tell bedtime stories. Though I know that books and movies are scripted, I still want to believe them.

Having born in Kathmandu and studied here, visiting my granny village is a rare thing. She lives with my uncle, aunt and my mother’s sister in the village. She comes to visit us during the times like Dashain and when we have long school vacation. She doesn’t come to visit us often but she stays for a long time once she visits us.

During her visits to my house, I have realized my granny is old and she is 81 years now. But to my surprise she is still very active and she is highly energized. I sometime feel she is younger than me.

She holds on to old tradition and culture but she also doesn’t force anyone to believe in her tradition and culture. In this term she is open minded and I appreciate her for having a broad mind. I have seen her dealing with others where she is loving and caring and always suggests us to eat properly and take care of our health.

I find my grandmother cool and pretty who loves to watch Hindi and Nepali television serials along with songs. Not only she is caring but she is also a strong spirited woman and she is the best grandmother in the world.

I know she is in the house whenever I hear the striking of her bangles and patting of the slippers. If you watch ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chasma’ with her and listen to her commentary, you cannot help but laugh till your stomach aches and trust me you may get a jaw ache too.

However, these days she has been complaining about her leg pain. But still she is really active for her age. She doesn’t like to eat much but she feels a person should always remain hydrated.

I don’t believe that people who are always close to each other only hold special places for each other in their heart. But I believe that even a onetime meeting can create special places in your heart. As for my granny we have spent lots of time together to be in each other’s heart and are spending.

People say that grandparent’s ask god to give their children and grandchildren long lives. Elderly blessing is regarded as the purest blessing so we should never raise our voices to the elders but to respect them.

I thank god for giving me such good parents and granny. But I think most of the children these days take their elderly parents and grandparents for granted and send them off to old age homes. Such petty people are certain to be found in this world because selfishness prevails far and wide.
