KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Pleadings on behalf of the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House at the Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench are over now.
Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR, who has been leading the five-member Constitutional Bench to look into the case, shared that the defendant [government side] will plead against the writ petitions now.

Government attorneys including Attorney General Agni Prasad Kharel and private lawyers will plead in favor of the House dissolution decision of the prime minister Monday onwards.
As many as 13 writ petitions have been registered at the apex court seeking the restoration of the House of Representatives (HoR), which was dissolved on December 20 last year by President Bidya Devi Bhandari upon the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Of the 200 legal professionals, who had applied for advocacy in favor of the writ petitions, as many as 70 lawyers have pleaded on behalf of the writ petitioners who have sought House restoration.
The Constitutional Bench comprising Chief Justice JBR and Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Tej Bahadur KC, Anil Kumar Sinha and Sapana Pradan Malla has been conducting hearings on the writ petitions since January 17.
