PALPA, Sept 18: In an incident in Palpa, a young man lost his life during a dispute that erupted amidst the festivities of Teej.


The Palpa District Police Office has reported that 24-year-old Sunil Khatri, a resident of Tinau Rural Municipality-2, Dobhan Ghodebas, met with a tragic end during an altercation among youths engaged in dance and song activities on the occasion of Teej.

Police Inspector Santosh Chand, the information officer of the office, disclosed that the incident occurred around 12:30 PM on Sunday when Khatri was stabbed. Severely injured, Khatri was rushed to Lumbini Regional Hospital for medical treatment, where doctors pronounced him dead at 2:45 AM.


The incident unfolded as there was a fight when women were engaged in dancing, and it reportedly escalated over the same matter. Preliminary findings from the police suggest that the conflict turned violent, resulting in Khatri's untimely demise due to a knife attack.


In connection to this tragic event, the police have arrested four individuals on suspicion of murder. However, detailed information on the detainees has not been disclosed at this time.


The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, with a team led by Superintendent of Police Heramba Sharma, the chief of the District Police Office, Palpa, currently on-site to gather further information and evidence.
