DHARAN, Nov 7: Zip line activity in Bhedetar, which had remained shut for more than seven months, resumed Saturday afternoon.

The adventurous activity started at one of the favorite tourist destinations in eastern Nepal on March 7 earlier this year. The business, however, came to a grinding halt as the government enforced the nationwide lockdown starting March 24. The lockdown remained enforced for four months and got lifted on July 21. However, due to some restriction orders, the tourism activities were yet to resume as usual.

The zip line built along Bhedetar and Debithan resumed after more than half a year. “We make sure that the health protocols are strictly adhered to avoid the contraction of COVID-19,” said Kedar Thapa, the chief of the World Wide Group Private Limited, the company which runs the activity.

The tourism activity was introduced in view of Visit Nepal 2020, a yearlong campaign announced by the government. The company has already made an investment of Rs 30 million. “Though the business was hit hard by the pandemic, we are expecting to revive it as a number of domestic tourists are seen interested in this sport,” Thapa added.

One can experience three varieties of adventure –tandem, superman and classic.
