1 killed, 5 injured in Surkhet road mishap

SURKHET, May 23: A man killed and five others were injured after a police van met with an accident at Birendranagar-14 on Tuesday morning.

SURKHET, May 23: A man was killed and five others sustained injuries after a police van met with an accident at Birendranagar-14 in the district on Tuesday morning.


The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old police constable Tarak Chand of Rukum.

Other five police personnel sustained injuries in the incident. The accident took place  when the Kalikot-bound vehicle boarded by police personnel for the election security in Kalikot met with the accident. 


According to the District Police Office, Surkhet, SI Basanta Budhathoki, ASI Ganga Prasad Sijapati, Head Constable Krishna Kumal, recruit Padam Prasad Chaudhari are among those critically injured.


Preparations are underway to airlift the critically injured to Nepalgunj for treatment.


The other injured are receiving treatment at Mid-western Regional Hospital and Deuti Nursing Home.
