11 killed, scores injured in Gulmi, Udayapur road accidents

KATHMANDU, Oct 30: At least 11 people were killed and scores are injured in two separate accidents on Monday.


Seven passengers have been killed in the incident that took place in Gulmi Durbar rural municipality-4 in Gulmi on Monday morning.


According to SP Anurag Kumar Dwebedi, as many as seven people were killed while six others sustained injuries when the an ill-fated bus, Ba 4 Kha 5501, heading to Tamghas from Butwal veered off the road and plunged some 300 meters down into the river.

The injured are being taken to Shringa Health Post, Palpa after preliminary treatment.


Likewise, four people were killed while six others sustained injures in a jeep accident in the district on Monday.


The jeep, Na 1 Ja 3404, en-route to Jayaramghat from Katari Bazaar met with an accident at Thanti Bhanjyang in Katari Municipality-11 along the Siddhicharan Lokmarga on Monday.


The accident took place after the jeep went out of control and fell some 500 meters down the narrow road at 1:30 pm, Karki quoted an eyewitness as saying. 


The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. A woman, a child and driver Hari Karki have been brought to Katari Hospital after rescue by the police with the help of locals.


A police team led by DSP Mahendra Shrestha, chief of Area Police Office, Katari, is carrying out rescue work with the help of locals.
