Among the 132 complaints, 71 were received from Salyan and 61 from West Rukum. Sapkota said that 26 of the complaints received from Rukum have already been resolved and investigation is under way into the remaining 35.

He said that in recent days, most number of complaints they receive are related to the education sector and local units. “We are minutely investigating into the complaints,” Sapkota said.

He said they have received complaints of the local units spending government funds arbitrarily. Likewise, complaints related to the education sector include irregularities in school building construction, formation of school management committees, teachers’ appointment, and irregularities in exams among other things, according to Sapkota.

Likewise, among the 71 complaints received from Salyan, 32 are related to irregularities in the education sector and 13 are related to the local units, according to the CIAA Surkhet office. Among these, 37 complaints have already been settled.

Sapkota said they are receiving more complaints because of growing public awareness about irregularities and corruption.
