14 kg gold smuggling case: Organized crime case registered against 10

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Customs Office has filed a case against 10 people for their role in the 14 kilogram gold smuggling case.

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Customs Office has filed a case against 10 people for their role in the 14 kilogram gold smuggling case.


The customs office has filed a case at the Kathmandu District Court claiming the 10 people cost the state Rs 1.4 billion.

A case of organized crime has been filed against the 10.


On December 7, 2023, Chandra Ghale, who was coming to Kathmandu from Dubai, brought 14 kilograms of gold hidden inside his jacket.


The investigation committee of TIA Customs Office concluded that Min Bahadur Ghale and his group had smuggled 138 kg gold in this fashion.


According to Chief Customs Officer Maniram Paudel, the Customs Office filed the case after deciding to proceed based on the recommendation from the District Government Attorney’s Office.
