KATHMANDU, August 21: In a bid to bring back Nepalis willing to leave Afghanistan, 165 people arrived in Kathmandu on Friday. They were brought to Nepal in a regular Jazeera Airways flight from Kuwait.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a total of 461 people have been rescued from Afghanistan. It further stated that nine more Nepalis are arriving home through a regular flight. The MoFA said the rescued people were working in various diplomatic missions and informal sectors in Afghanistan.

The MoFA has also formed a task force under the coordination of the heads of Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Divisions of the ministry to ensure the smooth repatriation of stranded Nepali nationals in Afghanistan after Taliban takeover.
According to the MoFA, Nepali nationals, who have returned from Afghanistan, have completed necessary procedures including immigration. Necessary arrangements have been made to keep them at the Holding Center in Samakhusi under the coordination of CCMC after completing the process including testing of COVID-19 as per the health safety standards.
The MoFA has informed that more Nepalis rescued from Afghanistan are also in the process of returning to Nepal. According to the Ministry, 310 Nepalis have registered their details in the web portal of the Consular Services Department till 5 PM on Friday.
