32 more Nepali nationals stranded in Afghanistan repatriated home

A small number of Nepali nationals deployed for the security of the UN agencies that are providing essential services to the Afghan people are still at work in Kabul. According to the MoFA, the UN has assured Nepal that it would take care of them and evacuate them safely in the case of any emergency situation.

KATHMANDU, Oct 30: An additional 32 Nepali nationals stranded in Afghanistan following the takeover of Taliban have been safely evacuated to Nepal.


According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), they arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday. With this, the total number of Nepali nationals evacuated from Afghanistan has reached 940.

A small number of Nepali nationals deployed for the security of the UN agencies that are providing essential services to the Afghan people are still at work in Kabul. According to the MoFA, the UN has assured Nepal that it would take care of them and evacuate them safely in the case of any emergency situation. 


The MoFA said it was closely monitoring the situation right since the Taliban takeover and taking diplomatic initiatives to bring them safely back to Nepal. It had ensured coordination with various western countries including the US, the UK, NATO officials, the United Nations as well as the employer organizations to evacuate and repatriate Nepali nationals who had gone there for employment. 


"The Ministry extends sincere gratitude to all agencies, employer organizations at home, friendly countries and UN agencies for their support to evacuate and repatriate them," the MoFA said in a statement.
