18 more recover from COVID-19 in Birgunj, 27 in two days

BIRGUNJ, May 25: As many as 18 COVID-19 patients were discharged from the Birgunj-based Narayani Hospital at 10 pm on Sunday after recovering from the disease.


According to medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Madan Upadhyay, all the discharged patients are from the same family including a 4-month old- and a six-month-old infants.

They were admitted to the hospital on May 6 after being diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease.


The last two PCR tests of all of them came negative for COVID-19, according to Dr Upadhyay.


Earlier on Saturday, nine other patients were also discharged from the same hospital. With this, 27 COVID-19 patients have recovered in Birgunj in the last two days.


Of the total 71 patients admitted to Narayani Hospital, 44 are now receiving treatment at the hospital’s isolation ward. According to the medics involved in their treatment, the health condition of all patients is normal. A total of 27 other infected patients from Parsa district are being treated at a temporary COVID-19 hospital at Gandak. They are also doing well, according to the hospital administration.
