Birgunj schools to be closed for three days due to extreme heat

BIRGUNJ, May 27:  Schools in Birgunj metropolis are going to be closed for three days. Due to the rise in temperature in the area around Birgunj, the schools are going to be closed for three days from May 29 to 31.

BIRGUNJ, May 27:  Schools in Birgunj metropolis are going to be closed for three days. Due to the rise in temperature in the area around Birgunj, the schools are going to be closed for three days from May 29 to 31.  


With this decision, both community and private schools will suspend their classes for three days.

Arvindalal Karna, head of Birgunj Metropolitan City Educational Administration Division, said that due to the extreme heat, they decided to close the schools. He added that parents, students and teachers had requested for the closure of schools for a few days. It is said that the decision was taken as heat-waves could significantly impact the students’ and teachers' health while conducting the classes in schools.


According to the decision of the Education Committee of the metropolis on April 29, it was decided to start classes from 6 AM because of unfavorable weather (extreme heat) during the day time. The classes were conducted in the morning on May 2. 


There are 92 community schools and 138 private schools in the metropolis.
