21 individuals earlier arrested for curfew violation in Birgunj released

BIRGUNJ, Feb 21: As many as 21 individuals arrested for curfew violation in Birgunj have been released. They were detained for participating in demonstrations during the curfew.

BIRGUNJ, Feb 21: As many as 21 individuals arrested for curfew violation in Birgunj have been released. They were detained for participating in demonstrations during the curfew.


On Tuesday afternoon, 21 individuals were arrested from different places in Birgunj. According to Parsa Deputy Superintendent of Police Kumar Bikram Thapa, the individuals were released at 10:30 PM on Tuesday following an agreement between the Hindu Samaj, Parsa, and the local administration at the District Administration Office (DAO) Parsa.

Ranjit Sah, a leader of the Hindu community, said that Ramesh Ram of Pakaha Mainpur in Parsa, Rajan Sah Kanu of Ghadiarwa in Birgunj, Rishav Mishra, Rakesh Yadav, Rajnish Yadav, Naresh Ram of Devatal in Bara, Subhash Pal of Nagwa in Birganj, Jitendra Yadav of Jagarnathpur in Parsa were among those who were released from the District Police Office, Parsa, on Tuesday night.


Earlier on Tuesday, an agreement was reached at the DAO between the local administration and leaders of the Hindu Samaj Parsa to implement the five-point agreement established during an all-party meeting in the afternoon. The agreement also stipulates that the police will take action against those who vandalize the Hindu flag, and verbally abuse or threaten members of different religious communities.
